Beginner courses are perfect for those who have never tried cross-country skiing before, but want to experience this traditional Norwegian activity.
You will learn basic cross-country skiing techniques in classic style, improve your balance and control on skis.
You will have a wonderful experience in Norwegian winter nature, and after the course, you will feel confident on skis and ready to hit the trails with self-assurance.
About the course
Small group of up to 8 people
You will learn basic cross-country skiing techniques in 1.5 hours.
The course can be held in Norwegian and English
The meeting point is a 15-minute walk from the metro (Voksenkollen metro station), with a large parking lot available.
Equipment can be rented affordably at the course location.

Registration
Ski equipment rental
You can rent equipment at the course location from Skimore at Tryvann. Our course participants receive an extra favorable price – only 275 NOK for a full package in the 2025–26 season.
If you wish to rent equipment:
Meet at Skimore 45–60 minutes before the course begins.
Show your course registration email to the staff at the counter to receive the special price.
Meet at the ski course right outside the ski rental.
Return the equipment after the course. You can also explore the trails on your own after the course and return the ski equipment later the same day, before the ski rental closes.
Meeting point
📍Tryvann - outside Vidsjå restaurant
Take metro Line 1 towards Frognerseteren.
This is a direct metro line, easily accessible from Oslo city center. Enjoy the view of the fjord and the city as the metro takes you to the top of Oslo.
Get off at Voksenkollen metro station and walk 15 minutes to the meeting point at Tryvann.
Alternatively, you can take a free shuttle bus up to Tryvann if you wish to skip the walk.
There is also ample parking at Tryvann if you come by car.
