Frequently asked questions

  • Beginner level classic:

    • This level is suitable for those who have never cross-country skied before, or who only have minimal experience (1-5 ski trips).

    • The course focuses on teaching you basic skills such as balance, braking and how to create momentum on skis.

    • This level is also suitable for those who ski very rarely, perhaps only a few times during a winter, or not every winter.

    • We recommend that you sign up for either a group course, where you learn together with others at your level, or for private lessons for more individual follow-up.

    Progress level classic:

    • This level is for those who have some experience of classic cross-country skiing and can ski, but who want to improve their technique.

    • You may have tried diagonal walking, pole vaulting, and turning techniques, but aren't entirely comfortable with all of them, especially in more challenging terrain.

    • We offer private lessons to help you build on your existing skills and become more confident on skis.

    Intermediate/advanced level classic:

    • This level is for those who have extensive experience with classic cross-country skiing and who want to fine-tune their technique for competition or very challenging terrain.

    • You master all techniques well, but will focus on optimizing power transfer, endurance, and tactics in different types of terrain.

    • Private sessions are ideal for getting personalized feedback and guidance on the small, but important, details.

    Beginner level skating:

    • This course is for those who have little or no experience with skating (1-5 trips).

    • It is recommended that you have some basic skills in classic cross-country skiing before starting with skating, but this is not a requirement.

    • In this course you will learn the basic techniques for skating, as well as improve your balance on ice skates.

    • Again, we recommend that you sign up for a group course or consider private lessons for a more customized training experience.

    Progress level skating:

    • This course is suitable for those who have some experience with skating, but want to become more comfortable and efficient in the technique.

    • You can skate in easier terrain, but need to improve your balance and technique in varying or steeper terrain.

    • Private lessons give you individual guidance to make you safer and more stable on ice skates.

    Intermediate/advanced level skating:

    • Suitable for those who have significant experience with skating and want to maximize performance in technically demanding situations or for competition.

    • Focus on technique improvements, such as double dance, single dance, and balance at high speed, as well as endurance training.

    • Private lessons give you the opportunity to work closely with an instructor to perfect your technique and reach your specific goals.

  • If you're new to cross-country skiing, we recommend that you start with classic. It's an easier introduction to the sport and provides a solid foundation for further development. Classic cross-country skiing is the most common style among skiers in Norway and is perceived as slightly less strenuous than skating, with a lower threshold for beginners.

Skating, on the other hand, is a great form of exercise that is both fun and challenging. It is technically and physically more demanding than classic, but its popularity is steadily increasing. Skating provides a more dynamic experience on skis, and is well suited to those who want an intense and engaging form of exercise.
